Catering information for students living in halls of residence 2012 – 2013
The University has a range of catering outlets across the campus which are open to all students*.
We have Halls of Residence which are ‘self-catered’ and Halls which are ‘catered’. Self-catered Halls have fully fitted kitchens which are shared between 8-10 students which allow students to prepare meals (but you may choose to eat at a catered Hall* or another food outlet).
Catered Halls provide students with pantries where simple snacks can be prepared but these are not full kitchens. To ensure students in catered Halls can have easy access to full meals we require residents of these Halls to purchase a ‘catering package’, this amount is included in the charge for the room in a fully catered hall.
*Wantage Hall Dining Room is only open to students resident in that Hall, guests of resident students and attached members.
Which Halls are catered Halls?
Dunsden Cresent (Part of Mackinder Hall), St Patrick’s, Wantage and Windsor (excluding Greenow and McCombie which are self-catered houses attached to Windsor Hall).
How much is the catering package?
£1723 per year
How do I pay for meals?
Students may pay the catering package charge on or before arrival or it can be added to a student’s bill. On arrival your Campus Card is programmed to show that you are a catered student and you use this card to pay for meals.
What do I get in a catering package?
The cost of the catering package to a student is £55.58 per week (over the 31 weeks of term time only) BUT because you get a 20% discount on all products displayed with a blue triangle next to the price this means you could have the equivalent of £69.48 to spend each week.
