Berkshire U20s overcame Cheshire 30-17 in an extremely competitive final at Twickenham on Saturday 4th May 2013. Outside the professional game this would represent the highest level of competition for players of this age group. Reading University has 8 players in this squad, Conor Diplock, Alfie Brierley, David Ison, Ollie Mann, Tomas Owen, Grant Merhjou, Issac Kibirige & Jack Harrison. Berkshire RFU are the smallest of all the rugby playing counties in England and it is to the credit of this group of university rugby club members that they have made a significant contribution to reaching such a prestigious final.

University of Reading Student Adam Freeman-Pask has won gold with Richard Chambers seen below, in the lightweight men’s double sculls in Sunday’s World Cup event in Sydney.
They dominated the race to see off their Chinese and Portuguese rivals. The display was a strong indicator that Chambers and Freeman-Pask are worthy successors to Mark Hunter and Zac Purchase as the Great Britain pairing.
As well as Adam picking up gold, GB won an historic gold in the men’s quad pictured left from three Reading University Alumni; Charles Cousins, Bill Lucas, Sam Townsend as well as Graeme Thomas – it’s a first ever for GB at world cup level.
